19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been won on hardcourt

A resurgent the Russian player secured his first title for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has endured a difficult season, achieving just a single victory at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.

The player's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in specific - caused him falling of the elite rankings and eventually separating with long-time coach Cervara.

Now training with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought three-set triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's maiden trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard surface since spring of the previous year.

Success also signifies Medvedev has secured 21 victories at 21 distinct tournaments.

"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my both daughters together, so to win a title is particularly special," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the first title I won when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had failed in his previous six title deciders, featuring in Halle in the past months.

Medvedev's defensive approach and regular reactions on court had caused some to question if his ability to perform at the highest level was over.

Yet the athlete has altered his approach in recent weeks, striving to approach the net and perform aggressively, backed up by an enhanced serve.

The champion fought back from a deficit in the first set against the challenging opponent, taking 4 of the final five points to go ahead.

The pair traded breaks in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his initial professional championship, seized the initiative to push for a final set.

He defended 4 early-game opportunities in a competitive deciding set before the champion secured a break to that score to close out the victory.

Suitably, he clinched victory with a rally at the net, with Moutet incapable to handle a return after a lengthy match.
